UK: An investigation is under way after a patient at a hospital in Cheltenham was diagnosed with Legionnaires' disease. It is not known whether the patient contracted the disease while at Cheltenham General Hospital or if it was brought in from outside.

A FORMER deputy head teacher died in hospital yesterday of legionnaire's disease. John Adrain, believed to be in his early 60s, worked at Greenwood Academy in Irvine, Ayrshire, for many years. He died from the bug after being admitted to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.

The condition of the Lanarkshire man, who has not been named, remained stable yesterday as investigations to identify the possible source of the infection continued.
